History:
It was an important religious point for Mayan culture. Fertilization rituals took place back then in the island, this is how “Passion Island” got its name.
It was also a refuge for the pirates. The pine trees you can find in Passion Island were planted by the pirates to hide their galleons from the Spanish army.
Today it works as a tourism development, distinguish for its quietness. Some of the Corona’s commercials were filmed in the island.
